Temperature Transmitter for Industrial Process Control

A temperature transmitter converts RTD or thermocouple input into a stable process signal. It sends temperature data to PLC, DCS, SCADA or control room systems. As a result, plant teams can monitor process temperature more reliably.

Plants use this transmitter when raw sensor signals need better transmission and control system compatibility. Also, it helps reduce signal problems caused by long cable runs, electrical noise and field conditions.

TIPL offers DIN rail, field mounted and head mounted models for different installation needs. So, users can select the right model based on panel location, field location, sensor head mounting, output need and communication requirement.

Choose the Right Model

The right model depends on the installation point. First, check where it will be mounted. Next, check the sensor input and output signal. Then, select the model that fits the control system.

Requirement Best Suited For Model to Review
Panel or control cabinet mounting Temperature signal conversion inside control panels, PLC panels and cabinet-based systems. TTD Series
Field-level installation Process areas where the device needs to stay close to the measuring point in the field. TTFU Series
Sensor head mounting Compact mounting inside thermocouple or RTD sensor heads, close to the measuring point. TTH Series

Note: Final selection should depend on sensor type, input range, output signal, communication need, mounting style, ambient condition and control system requirement.

Product Range

Each model type fits a different installation need. Therefore, users should match the design with the panel, field or sensor-head location.

Product Type Main Role Best Fit
DIN Rail Type Converts RTD or thermocouple input into a process signal from panel locations. PLC panels, control cabinets and panel-based signal conversion.
Field Mounted Type Supports temperature signal transmission from field-mounted process locations. Industrial process areas where field display, field wiring or local mounting is needed.
Head Mount Type Fits inside sensor heads and converts the signal close to the measuring point. Thermocouple and RTD assemblies where compact mounting is required.

Where These Transmitters Are Used

  • RTD and thermocouple signal conversion
  • 4-20mA temperature signal transmission
  • PLC, DCS and SCADA temperature input
  • Control panel and cabinet-based signal conversion
  • Field process temperature monitoring
  • Sensor head-mounted temperature measurement loops
  • Long-distance signal transmission from field to control room
  • Process control in power, steel, cement, chemical and utility plants

How to Select a Model

Start with the sensor type. Then, check the mounting location and output requirement. This helps users select the right device for the measurement loop.

  • Input Type: Check whether the input is RTD, thermocouple or another supported sensor type.
  • Output Signal: Select the required output, such as 4-20mA or another process signal.
  • Communication Need: Check whether HART or smart configuration support is needed.
  • Mounting Style: Choose DIN rail, field mounted or head mounted design based on installation location.
  • Control System: Match the output with PLC, DCS, SCADA or control room input.
  • Site Condition: Review ambient temperature, vibration, enclosure need, wiring route and field condition.
  • Maintenance Need: Check access for configuration, calibration and service support.

Transmitter vs Temperature Sensor

A temperature sensor measures the process temperature. However, a temperature transmitter performs a different role. It takes the sensor signal and converts it into a stable process output.

For example, an RTD or thermocouple may connect to the device. Then, it sends the signal to PLC, DCS, SCADA or a control room system. As a result, the control system can read the temperature more reliably.

Types of Models

  • DIN Rail Type: Fits inside control panels and PLC cabinets.
  • Field Mounted Type: Fits near the process area and supports field-level installation.
  • Head Mount Type: Fits inside the sensor head, close to the measuring point.
