The Raytek BB Series of Blackbody Calibration Sources are designed to check the calibration of various types of infrared temperature measurement instruments used in many industrial and commercial applications. In addition to Raytek's BB4000 (an extended area source particularly well-suited for use with portable/hand-held units).Thousands of these sources have been installed in national standards institutions, industrial laboratories, and R&D facilities around the world.

Designed specifically for use with infrared instruments, BB Series sources have the highest possible emissivity consistent with aperture size and target configuration, while also exhibiting excellent uniformity and accuracy. After testing and burning, each source is calibrated radiometrically (with NIST traceable certification).

These blackbody sources are essential for checking the accuracy of infrared thermometers (both portable and fixed), as well as such other instruments as spectral radiometers, thermal imaging equipment, and heat flux meters. An optional serial data communications interface is available on most models enabling control via a computer.
