EN880 PROCESS RECORDER
GENERAL
EN880 is a new generation modular Paperless Process Recorder with highly
enhanced innovative functionality. It has been developed by a highly
qualified team with wife experience in electronic instrument
development. The EN880 is a superior product with minimal maintenance
requirement and low running cost when compared with traditional
mechanical recorders. The design integrates the state of the art
knowledge of computer, microelectronics, data storage, LCD and
communication technologies to provide multiple display options, users
friendly flexible setup procedure and comprehensive statistics analysis
functions unparalleled by traditional recorders. The result is a very
high performance-price ratio machine that has been well received by
companies in multiple industrial sectors that include electronic power,
petrochemical, metallurgical, light engineering and pharmaceutical
companies.
CLASSIFICATION
The EN880 series models are categorized by basic type and special
features with product specifications that encompass multiple features
that can be transposed across several types. The basic models provide
all of the primary functions of paperless recorders and are available in
four, six, eight, twelve, sixteen, twenty four, thirty two & forty eight
channel options. Models up 80 channels are also available on order. The
LCD screen is colour, SVGA, TFT, 5.7 to 10.4 inch or 12.1 inch size. The
alarm output feature is designed to trip a standard relay. The 4-Channel
EN880 has 8 independent relay trips, the 6, 8 and the 12-channel EN880s
have 12 independent relay trips and the 16-channel EN880 has 16
independent relay trips. The 24, 32 & 48 channel EN880 has 2 independent
relay trips as standard and up to 16 relay trips as
option. The relations between all alarm and channels can be defined
through the setup procedure.
Customised EN880s can be built that add multiple user-specified special
functions to the basic type functions. Customization widens the
application field for process recorders and further improves their
performance-price ratio.

Features & Functions
Multiple Display Modes
The EN880 has 6 basic display modes: bar chart display (Figure
1), horizontal display of bar chart and vertical display of
graph (Figure 2), vertical display of bar chart and horizontal
display of graph (Figure 3), digital display (Figure 4),
cyclical display and recall display. The 16-channel EN880 also
has a polar (circular) display (Figure 5).
The display modes for each channel can be set up and combined by
users allowing the display to be Customised to their
requirements. The basic display functions incorporate many real
time ergonomically designed functions including date, time,
channel description (8 alpha-numeric characters for each
channel), physical units being measured for each channel (more
than 40 standard units are stored in memory for user selection.
Additional units can be added by users), multi-level alarm limit
bars, signal scale and amplification level, alarm state, time
coordination on the colors for graphs, bar charts and background
based on individual requirements. The screen refresh time
interval, recording time interval and the cyclical screen shift
time interval can also be selected by the user. |
|
SIMPLE
OPERATION
The EN880 incorporates 6 push button keys that provide all of the
necessary functionality. A single key press is all that is needed to
switch between display modes and to page scroll between displays under
standard operating conditions (non-set up state). The setup procedure is
accomplished through user friendly popup selection windows that are
simple to use.
|
POWERFUL SETUP FUNCTION
The EN880’s operating modes and functions, together with the
modification of specific parameters are selected through the
setup functions. The simplicity of use of the setup function in
defining the wide input range and powerful functions are the
main feature in the usability of the EN880.
All the setup procedure are facilities by pop-up menus
that incorporate on-line help prompts, making it unnecessary to
provide special training for users. Every time the user
completes a setup, its contents are permanently saved and will
not be lost even if there is a long power-off.
Password protection of the setup system is provided to
prevent access by unauthorized users and to protect important
parameters. The setup of minor user preference does not need
password protection. The setup menu structure is shown in
figure 6
|
Flow
Measurement
EN880 has a powerful flow measurement capability that can
display and record both the instantaneous flow and the cumulative flow
for each channel. The flow parameter setup window is shown in figure
7. the user can set the relationship between the indicated value and
signal. Built in options include linearity, extraction of square root,
differential pressure extraction, differential pressure linearity,
linear compensation and inverse ratio. The user can also set the
channels for flow input. Flow medium, totalizer required or not, initial
value for Totalizer, reset choice and Timed reset. Flow signal
temperature and pressure compensation can be set the using relative
parameters in “Temperature and pressure compensation setup” window as
shown on Figure 8.

Data Recall
The recall function accesses the historic data recorded on the
EN880 electronic disk and display then in continues graph mode,
as shown in Figure9. For the appropriate user-designated
channels, the shortcut keys select the recall functions such as
forward display, backward, rapid display, slow display and
display pause etc. the cursor line can be used to mark and
display the accurate record data value and record time for any
point on the recall curve. This provides a simple, convenient
and effective method for observation and analysis of historic
data.
Data Statistics
The user can access the data statistic function to recover the
data statistic for each channel in the designated time period.
Information available includes the maximum and minimum values in
the time period, the time they occurred, the average value in
this period, times when the alarms were triggered and
accumulated alarm time as Shown in Figure 10.
Alarms
The EN880 has been designed with a multiple alarm
function that trigger contact relays. The user can select which
of the different alarm types will be activated. Alarm types
include very high, high, low & vary low limits with methods that
encompass return difference alarm, variance rate alarm, alarm
time and contact state. All alarm outputs can be independently
specified for each channel through the setup procedures. It is
permissible for several channel alarms to trigger the same
output alarm relay. |
|
Communication/Networking
EN880 has two communication modes. Multiple EN880s can be using the LAN
mode to a data control personal computer. Alternatively, remote
communication mode can be achieved using standard telephone line and the
built in MODEM. Envada can either provided the user with the standard
communication software which can be operated on PC, or modify the EN880
communication software to map on to the user’s communication protocol so
as to be connected using an existing LAN.
Data
Management Software
The Envada data management software runs in the Windows-9x/Me/NT/200/XP
environments as shown in figure 11. This powerful software can be
used for display, analysis, statistic and printing of data download from
EN880 through the RS485/Ethernet digital output or the floppy disk.
